Glamping, or glamour camping, has been around for quite some time and it’s a popular camping activity that includes all the added luxury and tons of fun! Imagine driving up to a campsite with your tent already set up for you. And it even comes with a comfortable bed, fluffy pillows, warm blankets, towels, fans and more!

If you’re looking for a family-friendly glamping site near the Adirondacks, then look no further! Camp Rockaway in Schuylerville is located along the beautiful banks of Lake Champlain and it’s the perfect glamping spot for the whole family.

The Glamping Experience

At Camp Rockaway, we offer safari-style canvas tents that come furnished with a queen-sized bed, a memory foam mattress, pillows, extra blankets, linens, side tables with fans, towels and lights so you can pack light!

The 10 x 12 wall tent sits on a raised wood platform with a front deck with lounge chairs, and a shaded back porch with a hammock for you to enjoy.

Families with young children can also rent teepee-style “pup” tents for them to sleep in. (We think they will enjoy playing in the tents during the day!)

On Camp Rockaway campgrounds, you can find clean bathrooms and hot showers, a communal fire pit (smores kits are available), a picnic area, board games, plenty of hammocks and more!

2. Set sail on the Champlain Canal! Get onboard the Caldwell Bell – an authentic, chain-driven sternwheel paddleboat located right next to our campground!

3. Don’t forget: there is so much history around Schuylerville! Use this trip as a fun history lesson for the kids. Explore the Saratoga National Historical Park, learn about the Revolutionary War, see the Saratoga Monument and visit the famous Schuyler House!

Top 5 Fun Family Events in Saratoga Springs September 2021

September brings in a smorgasbord of fun events and activities for families joining us at Camp Rockaway. The summer holiday may be coming to an end but that doesn’t mean the excitement has to stop too! We love welcoming families over the weekends and there is always plenty to do beyond our campsite. (The 3rd one is worth the drive out of Saratoga Springs!)

Here are the top 5 fun family events in Saratoga Springs happening in September 2021

1. Couch Potato 0.5K Fun Run

Run for a good cause! This fun run will take place on the beautiful grounds of Pitney Meadows Community Farm to provide food and housing security for hundreds in the Saratoga community

No training, athletic ability or special apparel is required but the family can dress up and have fun! Psstt there will be prizes for the most creative finish, best-dressed pet and best costume so go crazy!

Each registration includes:
1 race entry with bib
Event sticker
Healthy snack and beverage
Family fun activities

Food and beverage will be available for additional purchases.

A moonlight maze on a farm simply screams fun! No horrified screaming (for now) cause this is a non-horror maze that is suitable for the whole family! It’s a great family-bonding activity as it requires everyone to work together and navigate their way out of the maze.

Head to Schuyler Farms early to enjoy other activities like ziplining, race the pedal karts, feed the animals at the petting zoo and so much more!

This requires a bit of driving but the Adirondack Balloon Festival is an event not to be missed if you’re in upstate New York! The family will be absolutely captivated watching hundreds of colorful hot air balloons floating in the open skies.

Bring some blankets and make a picnic out of it! There will also be a photo contest so bring those cameras too and get creative!

Do note that the Adirondack Balloon Festival is subject to weather conditions. No pets, camping, drones, remote control aircraft, or smoking allowed at the festival.

4. 6th Annual Saratoga Giant PumpkinFest

The 6th Annual Saratoga Giant PumpkinFest Weigh-Off is proudly hosted by the Saratoga County Chamber Of Commerce, the Saratoga Springs City Center, and the Saratoga Farmers Market.

As the name suggests, giant pumpkin growers from the Northeast area will be competing to win the biggest pumpkin of the year!

The Saratoga Giant PumpkinFest is a free family-friendly event so come on down on Saturday, September 25th and be amazed at the sight of giant pumpkins. You are more than welcome to take photos and selfies with the pumpkins too! They’ll be arriving at 9 am and the weight off will start at 11 am.

You can take the family to the Saratoga Farmer’s Market nearby on High Rock Avenue. There you will also find food vendors and special exhibits.
